Inspired by the red and orange earth of Sedona, this painting reflects the ancient sandstone layers shaped by sand, minerals, wind, water, and time. The canyon’s soft ridges and warm formations reminded me of the curves of a resting female body — strong, gentle, and protective.In this work, the canyon becomes a quiet presence that holds people as they hike, rest, and speak within her landscape. The layered ceramic stucco and acrylic color express the aged surface of desert rock, while the warm tones evoke comfort, stillness, and healing. I wanted the painting to feel like a place that quietly embraces you — ancient, peaceful, and alive.
