Commissioning an Original Painting: What to Expect
A surprising number of people don't realize commissioning original art is something they can just ask for — so here's a plain-language walkthrough of how it works with me.
It starts with a conversation, not a form. Tell me about the space the piece is going into, the mood you want it to hold, and whether you're drawn more toward my canyon landscape work or the feminine-form pieces — most people already know which one speaks to them. From there, I'll talk through scale (my Statement Pieces run up to 36x36" and larger), medium — acrylic, oil, or the textured ceramic stucco technique I use on pieces like Canyon Oasis — and a realistic timeline.
I'll share progress along the way rather than disappearing until it's finished, so there's room to adjust before the piece is locked in. Once it's done, it ships as an original, one-of-a-kind work — not a print.
